I doctor Thein Hlaing ( Naga ) would like to give the introductory remarks for the subjects of this website as follows.

• 1. During the 40 years of service which I have read from the learned doctors and books I intend to share my knowledge as a basic theory.
• 2. As a man of experience I would like to share my knowledge to my fellow professionals.
• 3. To reveal the truth of my works which I have put my heart and soul with strainous zeal so that one or two may be my followers to continue the job in the near future.
• 4. To amend the wrong and find the truth in his practice and to help the people who are in need.

As the old saying of Professor T.LEVIT “ Nothing is static, change is constant, not only in the sequence of life but also in the understanding there of “.
      As a march to medical science advances, doctors become specialist and the specialist become highly specialized specialist, then whoelse will be left to do the daily minor requirements of the majority. It is our non specialists duty to carry out all the minor daily requirements of daily minor illness.
      It is not the degree, it is the mind, the zeal and the spirit that is necessary for the success. The books and theories are basic knowledge for our daily practice.
      For my 40 years of service I really have no special intention in my beginning of service. As a young doctor I was posted to endemic remote area of Naga Land, where 60-70% of population have goitres.
      This initiate me to learn something more of goitres, why and how it is so highly endemic in this remote hilly region. Thus, by referring all the books I went uphill to study its endemicity and sets into field survey and therefore the subject of goitre survey is reveal in this website as a subject.
      So also by seeing many cases, day in day out the subject of goitre also comes into my mind and thus it became a subject to present. While currying out the survey I come across many of the lumps, bumps and minor ailments – among the people.
      Since it is a backward, illiterate, nat worshiping region to gain fate and confidence I try to remove their lumps and bumps in their locality under local nerve blocks which lead me into ambulatory surgeon and for this ambulatory surgery is now produced for your study.
      While performing small and minor ailments such as lipomas, dermoid cysts, hydrocoele, hernias, FA breast etc. in their presence request have been made for goitre operations in their locality ie. In their village. Thus, it became unavoidable and I have to perform starting with a small adenoma solitary in nature and by and by thyroidectomy under local became my daily subject. Therefore thyroidectomy under local, is now presented as a subject.
      As years go by I automatically become local surgeon ambulatory surgeon – ambulatory surgeon and thyroidectomist. Because of iodization programe in Myanmar, and because of misinterpretation of iodine or iodized salt cures goitre, people monkey with iodine without consulting a physician, thus from a peaceful lamb they become like a galloping horse and toxicity sets in.
     A rare disease, self inflicted, toxic goitre sets in and many asymptomatic goitres become toxic and thus they come to seek for operation. Thus toxic goitre initiate me to present as a subject. I have operated many toxic goitres and still operating daily for its permanent cure.
     Since students day ie. 2nd year of M.B.,B.S, I have a keen interest for human body anatomy. But only in my clinical years ie. Having passed my 3rd year, I wish to become a surgeon and I really put my heart and soul for this.
     Unfortunately I become a strike leader and as the Secretary General of all Young Doctors Association, I have to perform of 205 kyats of House Surgeons’ pay / bonus.
When I won the demand from the Government I was removed from internship and my aim to become a surgeon was over.     Anyhow, I try my level best to become a surgeon and thus become a surgeon recognized by the patients but not by the fellow professionals. Thus, for my fellow professionals I would like to educate them what a surgeon is and to reveal how and why I become a surgeon is a next subject in my website.
